Due to the fact that British Summer Time is changing once again, (dont ask me why they do it, there must be a reason somewhere), I am wondering what happens to my transaction logs. I have SQL 2000 running which makes a backup transaction log of the live Navision database every hour. This backup creates a filename with the database/date/time. Now when the clocks go back an hour, will it overwrite the existing file, or will it create a new file? If it creates a new file, how does SQL know which one is the right file, cause otherwise the transactions will go out of sync if I ever need to do a restore.[}:)] Thanks in advance Zed
This article is talking about data in a Datetime field, so is of no help here. I suspect that changing the time on your server would have the same effect - e.g. to correct an incorrect time, and its also a problem there and not just during a daylight saving switch, so you could check it out before hand. I imagine that they will tag the file to make it unique if the times collide, then use the tag information to determine the sequence order. But the only thing is to try it.
British Summer Time - isnt that an oxymoron [;)]

Ahh the beuty of Dual nationality, I can laugh and cry at both of these… …Can’t spell Beauty, but can laugh at it…
Alledgedly there is some culture in our Yoghurt. But I find it hard to believe.[:(!]
So, we seem to have drifted off the original post, but no matter[:p] I got several users with fin.htm errors, even though they all pickup their time from the citrix servers[:O], and I still aint no closer to figuring out how SQL copes with the time change [:(]
Problems with fin.htm is usually because a user in Citrix has been accidentually logged in to Navision during the change to/from summertime
I thought this may have been an issue as well, and I did recommend to the topcats that people log out for an hour or so, since no one in their right mind would want to work in the middle of the night[:D] I wont be able to test this on the live system till the next time change. However we are going to be coming online in China soon, and this is going to cause even issues. I really need problems like this, as much as I need a bullet in the head [:P]
