Can AX 09 import excel format into the different addressx type? For example the Alternate Delivery address. If I have an excel spread sheet with all the informaiton for the fields in Alternate Delivery Address, can it be imported straight into excel so that I don’t have to add them one by one?

You can import address (as well as other data) from Excel spreadsheet for AX2009. Just you use Data Export/Import tool (module Administration > Periodic > Data Export/Import > Excel spreadsheets).
To import address, you should first read the White Paper Global Address Book.
