Assigning responsibilities in Sales and Marketing

In the Sales and Marketing module it’s is possible to setup that specific responsibilities are available on customers, vendors, campaigns, Call lists etc. These responsibilities could be categorized so that they represent a position (or job) in the company.

But how is it possible to automate the assignemt from one "Responsibility to when the entity is created such as a customer or vendor - e.g. so when a customer within certain criteria is created then this customer is automatically assigned “a specific responsibility” ?

NB: I know automatic assignment is available through the Lead qualify process, but would like to know if possible elsewhere on how to use responsbilties ( and priorities or structures on how to use it in practise).
