Hi, Can anyone tell me what is meant by Agile Manufacturing? and what is the difference between Agile Manufacturing and basic Manufacturing provided in Navision Attain?
Hi! Agile manufacturing refers to the ability to adapt to external changes which are beyond the control(in the manufacturer’s perspective).Some of the examples of such changes can be varied customer preferences, multiple finished product lines with shorter lead times. In such situations, the manufacturers need to react very quickly to them(make necessary changes in the setup to satisfy the customer orders) and at the same time should provide the same quality of service as expected of them. Coming to the solution, Navision adapts itself very quickly to such changes (like in customer orders), so it justifies the claims that Navision supports agile manufacturing. Agile Manufacturing: -Customized Products, -Short Market Life expected, -Produce to order -Pricing by customer value, The emphasis in Lean is more on Technical and Operational issues, where as Agility emphasizes organizational and peoples issues. Lean applies mainly to factory, Agility is broder in scope. Certainly the two systems do not compete, Agility complements Lean. Agile Manufacturing is to Lean as ERP is to MRP.
