Adding a new company

Hi everyone,

I have to add a new company for a customer and I have never done it before :oops:
All I know is that I have to go to Company → New and add the name of the new company, NAV will create a new one…
but after that, what do i have to do to make it functional ?

I forgot to mention that the client is using NAV 3.7…

If you have created a new company, then you have an empty company without any setup or any data.

So what you need to do next is to setup your company, which means setup all the setup tables, create chart of accounts, posting groups etc. And when that’s all done, then you can start using it.

If you’re doing this for an existing customer who already uses Navision and who want to use the same setup in the new company, then most commonly it’s done by taking a copy of the current company and the remove all the data which is not needed, which is always all the posting tables (ledger entries), but also a lot more. You need a developer license to do this.
