Well every one; believe it or not NOLUG (or MBS Online as we now know it) is ten years old. Please everyone send Erik an email IM, PM what ever, but please lets everyone here individually say thanks to Erik. What he created is without any doubt the best thing that ever happened to Navision, and for the whole MBS community. Also they say that mimicry is the finest form or flattery, and the fact that there are those that have copied what Erik did, is a further testiment to his vision. Erik my personal congratulations on your first ten years, thank you, and lets see ten more. So what’s the next step? Well as much as we talk about it, its now time to meet. We are a community that span the globe, and meeting is quite complex, but its now going to happen. As well as my self, many have made attempts to organize a meeting of MBS members, but this time it is going to happen. From my estimates we need to have three meetings. One in Europe, One in the US, and one in East Asia. (Being Australian, I would rather it there, but we need to be practical, and East Asia serves more people). I also think its important that the most important person in attendance is Erik, so we should if possible organize around his travel plans time wise. I will take on the task of organizing the global concept, but need some one in each time zone to organize the local aspects. Options I see are Europe: Copenhagen (obvious), Prague or London. US: New York, San Fransisco, Las Vegas. East Asia: Xiamen (probably good for Erik), Shanghai, (probably more fun for us), Singapore (practical), Sydney. I will set up a poll for each location once we have a short list. Please submit a different location if you feel. So what’s it all about? We are a very diverse group of people. We have end users, VARs, MS employees, and Independents (such as me). So we need to organize a probram that suits everyone. No point in just going to a meeting without a purpose. Importantly we as a group (over 20,000 at last count) are wuite a significant group. Importantly we are a group dedicated to the growth and development of MBS and its Dynamics product range. Like everyone, I have my personal aims, and we need to make sure that these meetings become usefull to all. So rather than me setting a schedule, I think it fair that everyone submit their ideas of what our objective should be. So pelase start doing that. Would you like to see seminars? If so what about. As NOLUG thig, I think open forums are important, but we need topics to start. As a Navision Freelancer, I will cheat a bit, and say that no matter what, there will be the opportunity to discuss Freelancing in Navision as my priority, but there will be oportunity for all aspect of the full Dynamics range. OK that’s a good start. Lets go… Oh and as very serious Arthur C Clarke fan, this post has special significance. _________________________ David Singleton Navision Consultant since 1990 http://www.go-live.us/thebook dsingleton@go-live.us___________

David, I suggest to add Bangkok. [:D] More practically than Singapore (Bangkok has the largest aviation hub in Asia) and “more fun” than in Shanghai (because accomodation and food is much cheaper in Bangkok). And, of course, I am already here!
Erik, congratulations on the 10 years![Wow!] Meeting? Good Idea![Yeah!] I’m only posting for 3 months now.[:I] Can I come? I love Londen and Prague, never been to Copenhagen…[;)] Why not do it in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands[:D] Saves me a whole bunch of traveling. We can have a party in my garden. [8D] I don’t have any specific aims, I post for fun. So I’d like to have some fun on the meeting as wel.[:p]
Please everyone list potential cities for the three meetings. We will then have a poll for everyone to vote where to have the meetings. Rememebr we need three meetings, US, EU and SEA. We also need to have fun !!! High priority, so keep that in mind when suggestion a city. Obviously a good airport is critical By good, I mean one with good connections. Also keep in mind hotels. And I will need a volenteer in the city that will help witht he local organizing.

Seriously, Bangkok for SEA. And a lot of people to volenteer.
Bangkok is definitely on the short list [:D]
Erik, Congratulations! 10 years! [Wow!]

Nice, a meeting. I’ll just suggest the EU-cities; 1. Amsterdam (nearby for me) 2. Copenhagen (never been there, curious) 3. Prague (beautiful city, relatively cheap) For ideas how the meeting should be, I must give it a tought…
SOme people were getting a jet engine error trying to reply to this topic. Is it OK now?

David, I don’t get it. What “signifiance”. I know Arthur C. Clake’s book Glide Path (1963). Clark belt… satelites? Communication? Still don’t get it.
… it was no. 2001 [^]
Of course, meeting in Prague is no problem for me and I will be happy to be there. Other possibilities depend on WHen and Where and if I get some “help” for my trip (for example from our Company). I was on MVP Summit one month ago in Seattle and it was cool. It is pitty, that it seems that it will be not possible for me to be on all meetings… I will try my connections to have some interesting things there…
Big and Huge Congrats to Erik for a job Well Done !!! I know that this user group has benefited me and the team that I manage a number of times over the years. And it is the first place that we look whenever we encounter something new to see if anyone has been there before us. Secondly the contribution by everyone new and old has gone into making this forum a great learning place for all. So a second congrats goes to all who have contributed. Yes a meeting would be great… and it gets my vote. In terms of locations… as I am in Western Canada now after living all my years in London England. So either San Francisco or Las Vegas would be a great location , fun cities so a great time can be had by all. Cheers and once again Erik big Thanks!!
Hello Eric, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Indeed its a big achievement and no wonder if this forum sees 10 or more coming years. This forum has really served in a numerous way to each and every individual working in MBS…and it won’t be exaggeration to say work life in MBS without this FORUM would have been very difficult. David has really come up with a good idea…meeting of MBS professionals really sounds good…as I’m from SEA…I would prefer Singapore. Connectivity is better here ,airport is world class…and more importantly its in heart of city. So shouldn’t be a problem I guess.

This was my 2001 st post on MBSOnline [:D]
Good idea David, I would have thought that the 3 meeting might become an annual get-together in different parts of the world with Erik as the guest of honour. That way, we can meet more people, although I have voted for the 3 meetings, it could be most unlikely to be able to fit in more than 1 for most people and we would all miss out to some degree. What about stretching the 3 meetings to cover a longer timeframe to give us all a chance to come along? [;)]
Sorry, I should have said, an annual meeting in place of the 3 meetings…
Not a bad idea. I had first thought of having the meetings within a month or so time frame, but if we had them split say 3-6 months apart. Then three seperate meetings might work. Thanks. [;)]

He David, You would not have time to work in that month if you’re attending all three meetings! [8D] Or was that the idea? [;)]
That was the idea, basically take one month off to do this.
Congratulation Erik and thanks for facilitating the sharing of knowledge! I absolutely consider to attend one of those meetings. Great idea. An in-depth research based on the infamous beer topic will get my vote…
